Man of my dreams

I saw you in a dream...

You came to me and said you were on your way.

I mustered up every ounce of courage I had in me to leave the life I had built behind. I knew what I had to do - I had to love every part of me so I could love every part of you. So I set out on an adventure. I got rid of nearly all my possessions and traveled around the world. I did the things on my bucket list that had been collecting cobwebs and contempt. I told people I loved them. Hugged everyone I met. I made mistakes and held no regrets. I experienced otherworldly kindness and hospitality, met larger than life fairytale characters, dove deep into the deepest heartaches, danced with each breath.

I surrendered all I could every day. Each step - a leap of faith. Because I didn’t know where I was headed, but I knew you’d be there...

Long before I met you I wrote in my journal that I wasn’t looking for a certain man, but a certain spirit. That I’d know you by the love in your eyes.

There you were standing in the middle of an art show in downtown San Diego... the Light in your eyes said everything I had ever wanted to hear.

Love, I’m not sure where we’re headed, but I know we’ll both be there together. I pray this next phase of our life is even more wondrous than the one that brought us together.

All my love, Jenn

Strange and lovely, is'nt it — the roads that lead us together. Hello, you. I'm Jenn.

I'm a mother, a poet, and someone who cannot — try as she might — leave the true things alone without first turning them over in the light.

I write because the feelings need somewhere to go — and because I've found that when I name something true, someone somewhere exhales and feels a little less alone.

Most days you'll find me in the beautiful, unfolding ordinary of motherhood, letting go, and discovering out who I am underneath all the roles.

May you recognize yourself somewhere in these words.
